Pricing
One unit, one axis for frequency and one for retention. No storage charges, because the storage is yours. Amounts are shown in the console and will appear here when the tariff is published.
Amounts are not published yet. The live tariff is shown in the console under Settings, Billing, and this page will carry it once it is set. Everything else on this page is fixed and is what the invoice arithmetic already does.
What counts as a unit
Microsoft 365 is billed per protected user per month. A user with a protected mailbox, a protected OneDrive, or both, is one seat. A user with two protected workloads is still one seat.
- SharePoint libraries are covered by the seats of the tenant that owns them. They are not billed separately.
- Unprotected users are free. Discovery lists everything and sizing measures everything, but nothing is billed until you tick Protect. That is why discovery, sizing and protection are three separate steps.
- Storage is never billed. Backups land in your own bucket with a provider you chose and pay directly. We do not bill for bytes, and we do not mark up your storage.
- Device backup is in development. When it arrives it will be a second unit, billed per device, on the same tier logic. It is not available today and nothing on this page charges for it.
The frequency tiers
A tier is derived from the client's policy, never set by hand. Change the policy and the client moves tier from the next day, and the console says so on the policy page.
| Sold as | Runs per day | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Nightly | 1 | The default for most seats. One pass overnight. |
| Standard | 2 to 4 | Clients where losing a morning's mail matters. |
| Continuous | 5 to 24 | Up to hourly, for the tenants that cannot lose an afternoon. |
Every tier includes the same product: all three Microsoft 365 workloads, Explorer search across your whole estate, restore in place or to a dated folder, .eml and zip export, verification after every run, reports with CSV, the digest, team roles, two-factor authentication and the REST API. Frequency is the only difference.
Retention: the second axis
One year of retention is included at every tier. A policy with no retention limit keeps everything for ever, and that is an add-on charged per seat on top of the tier rate. Retention is the honest cost lever here, because retained versions are bytes in your bucket and rows in our index that we carry indefinitely.
Your first two users are free
Your first Microsoft 365 tenant gets two free seats. They are deducted every day before the peak is taken, at whatever tier that client is on, and the unlimited retention add-on is included in the allowance. The allowance belongs to your MSP account rather than to a tenant, so a second tenant is billed from its first seat. Settings, Billing names the client the allowance is applied to and shows the raw peak and the billable peak side by side.
How a month is worked out
Once a day Restorable counts protected users per client and records the tier. The invoice takes the highest daily count per client and tier in the period. A client that grows mid-period pays for its peak, and a client that shrinks pays until the period ends. This is the same arithmetic the incumbents use and the same one your PSA contracts assume.
You see the number before we do. Settings, Billing shows the running figure for the current period, and the Reports page shows the daily series and the month-to-date peak per client with a CSV export and the same data on the API.
When you are charged
- Monthly, on the day of the month you registered. Days 29 to 31 fall on the last day of shorter months. The first charge after you set up billing covers the part-period up to that day.
- Three days' notice, with the amounts. Every owner and admin gets an email with the line items, the subtotal, the charge date and the payment method that will be used. If protected users increase in those last three days the charge rises to match, and the email says so.
- Card or UK Direct Debit (Bacs), through Stripe Checkout. Direct Debit customers also get the Bacs scheme's own mandate and pre-debit notifications from Stripe.
- VAT is added where it applies. Checkout collects your billing address and VAT number.
- Restorable never sees your card or bank details. They are held by Stripe. Invoices, payment method changes and address changes are all in the Stripe customer portal, reached from Settings, Billing.
Usage before you set up billing is not invoiced, because there is no subscription to send it to. If a payment fails, the console shows the account as past due and Stripe retries on its own schedule. Backups keep running.
Refunds
Restorable is sold to businesses only, so the consumer cancellation rights that apply to sales to individuals do not apply. We do not operate a general refund policy beyond what the law requires of us and what the payment scheme rules require, including your Direct Debit Guarantee rights where you pay by Bacs. If you think you have been charged wrongly, write to hello@restorable.cloud and we will look at it. See the terms of service for the full position.
What you should budget for elsewhere
Two costs are yours and are paid to someone else: your S3-compatible storage, priced by your provider, and any egress that provider charges when you restore or export at scale. Wasabi and Backblaze B2 are the usual choices for MSPs on cost grounds. We hold no opinion you have to follow, because the bucket is yours.
